Owners, Jose and Sam, first met in 2017 while serving in the Marine Corps Embassy Security Group program at US Embassy Podgorica, Montenegro. 3 years later, they were inspired by their visit to FXBG Axes, owned and operated by their former Detachment Commander, Gunnery Sergeant David Crawley, and his wife, Krista Crawley. During the midst of the Covid-19 outbreak, Jose and Sam decided to roll the dice and formed their company together and decided on Scranton, PA as the perfect spot in need of axe throwing. Construction began in early 2021 and our doors finally opened on July 31st, 2021. We've found the community in Lackawanna PA to be extremely welcoming and helpful. Every review posted, photo shared, and story told is an extreme help to us in our mission to provide a fun and exciting new sport to the area that will help bring our community together. Thank you to our wonderful supporters!

I was born and raised in Candor, NY. After high school, I attended one year at Word of Life Bible Institute and then enlisted in the Marines, following in the footsteps of my father. I was a 5831 - Corrections Specialist, providing security at the brig in Camp Lejeune. In 2016, I was accepted into the Marine Corps Embassy Security Group Program in Quantico, Virginia. During my time in the program, I was stationed at US Embassies: (1) Phnom Penh, Cambodia, (2) Podgorica, Montenegro, (3) Moscow, Russia. In 2019 I finished my contract and returned home and began studying for my bachelor's in business administration at Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY. During the summer of 2020 I drove down to Fredericksburg VA with fellow Marine, Jose, to attend the wedding of our friend and prior Detachment Commander, David Crawley. There, David and his wife Krista showed us their facility, FXBG Axes, that they ran together. They planted the idea of being a small business owner in the heads of Jose and I. Shortly after, we made the decision to go for it and started the company, with David and Krista helping us along the way. In 2021, I decided to take a year off of school to focus on our business. Now (thankfully), I'm back in school full-time while co-running the business with Jose part-time. Good thing I have a place to hack away my stress.
